About VarX
VarX is an independent forensic video studio based in Southern California. It produces scene documentation, sentencing mitigation films, demonstrative video exhibits and footage review for attorneys, litigation teams and expert witnesses, and it also produces commercial brand media.
What VarX does
- Scene documentation: on-site video and aerial documentation of properties, construction sites and incident locations, edited into clear visual timelines that follow the sequence of events in the case record.
- Mitigation videos: documentary-grade films for sentencing hearings and settlement conferences that capture character testimony and context paper briefs cannot convey.
- Demonstrative evidence: visuals that explain construction defects, mechanical failures and technical sequences, prepared for use as demonstrative evidence. Admissibility is decided by the court.
- Footage review and preparation: frame-by-frame review, clarification and multi-camera synchronization of surveillance and cell phone footage.
- Commercial production: brand promos, corporate events, product and testimonial videos, music videos, custom animation and bilingual content.
How the work is grounded
Every visual is built from the physical record of the case: site footage, photographs, plans and the findings of the retained experts. The goal is a technical sequence that a judge, jury or mediator follows the first time, at deposition, mediation or trial.
Who is behind VarX
VarX is the forensic video studio of Randy Beard, a swimming pool, landscape and construction defect expert witness who has worked in the pool trade since 1979 and holds California contractor license #871188 (C-53 and C-27). That construction background is why VarX's construction-defect exhibits are technically right: the person shaping the visual has built, inspected and testified about the same kinds of structures.
Equipment and field work
VarX is a mobile team. It travels to the site with its own 4K cameras, aerial drones, and multiple underwater cameras with housings and lighting, which are used on nearly every pool inspection to document conditions below the waterline. Scheduling is prompt so conditions can be filmed before they change.
